She is the author of 14 novels for younger readers and a picture book, THE SOUND OF THE SEA, which was awarded Honour Book in the 2006 Children’s Book Council Awards. Alice-Miranda in Japan: High Tea at The Tea Salon by Georgia Cameron

Hello Friends,

I am so thrilled that my new book, Alice-Miranda In Japan is out in the shops in Australia.  During the school holidays we had three wonderful events to celebrate the release (some lucky children got to buy the books two weeks early) at a beautiful place called The Tea Salon in Sydney.  One of my good friends, Georgia Cameron, who is ten years old, wrote a fantastic recount of one of the high teas.  You can read it below.  A big thanks to Georgia for sending this to my best grown up friend Jacqueline Harvey (who also happens to be a friend of Georgia's too).

On 22 January 2014, there was a very special event to celebrate the launch of Alice Miranda in Japan at the Tea Salon at Westfield in the City. It was great fun and very busy.

We arrived early at the tea salon because my mum, my little sister Julia and me travelled into the city with Jacqueline (except that we call her Jacquie). There were lots and lots of people coming to get their photo taken with her and also buying the wonderful Alice-Miranda and Clementine-Rose books. Everyone really wanted Alice- Miranda in Japan! We were all queuing to get into the Tea Salon because there was such a big crowd but luckily we were the first one’s seated. We met some people called Melissa, Eugenie and Araminta and enjoyed chatting and eating scones with jam and cream, pink cupcakes, sushi and ribbon sandwiches. Julia ate 2 or 3 cupcakes!  It was so busy that Jacquie couldn’t even sit down or eat anything.

Jacquie gave a speech about Alice- Miranda in Japan as an introduction. She knows a lot about Japan because she went there with a school group and she’s been back with her husband Ian too. She also read the first chapter of Alice- Miranda in Japan but not anymore because authors don’t like giving away their stories. Jacquie asked if anybody had a question and a row of hands popped up very fast. These were some of the things people wanted to know.  Why did you become an author? When did you publish your first book? And do you have any kids? When people asked Jacquie that question she said she had a step daughter but she and Ian don’t have any children together but I think of Alice-Miranda and Clementine-Rose as her children.

At the end of the speech Jacquie signed some more books and then we all headed home. It was a fun time and I loved it and I hope that everyone else that was there enjoyed it to.

Thanks for the great report Georgia,

Lots of love,

Hello USA!

Hello Friends, I am so excited I don't think I am going to get much sleep for the next couple of nights. Tomorrow my first adventure, Alice-Miranda At School is being launched in the United States of America! My best grown up friend, Jacqueline Harvey can't wait to talk to the girls at The Hewitt School and launch my book to lots of new friends. It will be Tuesday 5 April, midnight in Sydney Australia and 10am in New York City. At the moment Jacqueline is busy helping me put the finishing touches to Alice-Miranda At Sea, which is the fourth book and she's also helping me write about my adventures in Manhattan (which is in New York). So, I would love to hear from my new friends in America - please write and tell me what you think about my story. Love and best wishes, Alice-Miranda xx

Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead Afternoon Tea Launch

Hello Friends,

I am so excited to see Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead out there in the shops this past week. Jacqueline Harvey is having a lovely launch at the Reel on Redleaf Cafe in Wahroonga on Sunday 20 February at 3.00pm. There's a scrumptious menu and I think the bookings are filling very quickly with only about 20 spots left. If you'd like to come along you need to contact the Novella Bookshop in Wahroonga. There's an invitation here. Can't wait to see all my friends!

Love,

Alice-Miranda xx

Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead

Hello everyone,

It's hard to believe that it's already the end of January. I have been rather quiet over Christmas and New Year - mostly because my best grown up friend, Jacqueline Harvey has been very busy helping me write a new adventure. Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead is in the shops today! I thought it wasn't coming until next Tuesday but today Jacqueline saw it in a lovely bookshop in Wahroonga NSW called Novella. I am so excited - the cover is very pretty. Last term at school the girls were telling me about a legend of a witch who lives in the woods. One afternoon Millie and I went out riding with a new girl, Sloane and our friend Madeline and let's just say that Bonaparte (my pony) wasn't on his best behaviour. I ended up far from home and I met a lovely new friend. Her name is Miss Hephzibah but I don't want to spoil the surprise if you'd like to read the book. We also had a play at school and I got to play one of the lead roles. Anyway, I can't wait to hear what you think about the new story. I promise I''ll write more often again now that school is back.

Lots of love,
Alice-Miranda xx

PS We are having special book launch afternoon tea at Reel on Redleaf cafe in Wahroonga on Sunday 20 February. All my friends are invited and I will make sure that there's an invitation posted on the blog.
