She is the author of 14 novels for younger readers and a picture book, THE SOUND OF THE SEA, which was awarded Honour Book in the 2006 Children’s Book Council Awards. Her bestselling Alice-Miranda series centres on the life of Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones, a perpetually positive and determined seven year old who takes herself off to boarding school because it appeals to her sense of adventure. The first book in the series, Alice-Miranda At School was released in Australia in February 2010 with Alice-Miranda On Holiday, Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead, Alice-Miranda At Sea, Alice-Miranda In New York, Alice-Miranda Shows the Way and Alice-Miranda In Paris following at six month intervals. Are you dressing up for Book Week?

Hello Friends,

I'm so excited that this week is Book Week and lots of my friends are having special celebrations about books and reading at their schools. My best grown up friend Jacqueline Harvey is going to be talking to some children about my stories too. Are you dressing up for a character parade? My good friends Ruby and Lauren have dressed up as me! They look adorable in their Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale uniforms. I'd love to see your photos from Book Week. You can send them to jacqueline@jacquelineharvey.com.au

Have a great week!
Lots of love,

National Book Shop Day

Hello Friends,

I hope you're having a good weekend. My best grown up friend Jacqueline Harvey has had a really busy day visiting four fabulous bookshops for the first ever National Bookshop Day. At 9am she headed to Lindfield Bookshop where she met quite a few gorgeous little girls who are great friends of mine. Then at 11am she was at The Children's Bookshop in Beecroft which was really buzzing with loads of children and fantastic authors, John Larkin, Belinda Murrell, RA Spratt, Christopher Cheng and the amazing illustrator Sarah Davis. From there she managed to stop for a lovely lunch hosted by the Random House publicist Dorothy, who is a superstar! Then Dorothy and Jacqueline drove over to Shearer's Bookshop at Leichardt where Barbara and Tony were having a day full of visiting authors. Jacqueline got to answer some questions about my stories and also unveiled her name on the wall of authors. She had hoped to meet Ray Martin but he couldn't come (she suggested I should try and solve that mystery, which Barbara thought was a good idea). Lastly Jacqueline headed over to Better Read Than Dead in Newtown where she met some very enthusiastic little girls who love my stories. I think she needs to have a big rest tonight! I hope you had a great National Bookshop Day and I'm sure that it's an event that will just get bigger and bigger. Reading is one of my most favourite things to do - and writing too. I hope you're reading something fun.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Lots of love,

Alice-Miranda At Sea Launch!!

Hello Everyone,

What a day we had yesterday on sparkling Sydney Harbour! 180 of my friends came along to help us launch, on a launch, my fourth adventure, Alice-Miranda At Sea. There was a delicious afternoon tea with sandwiches and slices and cakes. The weather was calm and my best grown up friend Jacqueline Harvey signed LOTS of books - although she said she felt a little seasick for a while from looking down for so long. We even had a celebrity with us onboard, former Australian test cricketer and all round lovely guy, Glenn McGrath and his gorgeous daughter Holly and wife Sarah. Holly is a fan of the books. It was great to see so many people and I really want to thank everyone who came along and supported us. Linsay Knight from Random House who publishes the Alice-Miranda books did the official honours and the wonderful people from the Novella Bookshop sold all the books and arranged the launch. Jacqueline's fabulous editor Kimberley Bennett was there too and so were lots of her family and friends. I can't wait to start planning the next launch - which we are going to hold on top of a skyscraper!

Have a great week,

Lots of love,

Alice-Miranda featured in this month's Girl Power and Total Girl Magazines

Hello Friends,

I am so excited - today is the official launch of Alice-Miranda At Sea and I can't wait to meet everyone. We're heading off on a ship on Sydney Harbour at 2.30pm and it's going to be amazing (but the tickets are all sold out so please don't come unless you have a booking - I would hate to disappoint anyone). I wanted to let you know that I was reading Girl Power the other day and was surprised to see my stories and my best grown up friend Jacqueline Harvey featured inside - and on the back cover. We are also featured in Total Girl but it's mostly a story by Jacqueline about how to write stories - she's been teaching me and I hope to have some exciting news about that soon. I will post some photographs after the launch. Have a great day!

Love,
Alice-Miranda xx
